Afrobeats star Mayorkun lit up Accra this past weekend as he hosted an exclusive album listening party for his third studio album, “Still the Mayor”. Held at the upscale Exhale Lounge, the night was a glamorous affair that brought together a constellation of musical talents, tastemakers, industry executives, and some of Ghana’s most influential trendsetters. The event saw appearances from notable stars such as King Promise, Camidoh, Gyakie, Omar Sterling, Olive the Boy, and even football icon Thomas Partey, all showing up to support Mayorkun’s next chapter. With energy high and anticipation buzzing, guests got a first listen of the 12-track project that marks the singer’s return to full form.
Still the Mayor” follows the legacy of his previous projects — “Mayor of Lagos” (2018) and “Back in Office” (2021) — and firmly establishes Mayorkun as a master of reinvention. Sonically, the album is a bold fusion of Afrobeats, Afropop, R&B, and even rap, reflecting the diversity of African music and Mayorkun’s genre-bending artistry. The album features a star-studded lineup including: Fireboy DML, Rotimi, Ghana’s rising star Olive the Boy, Dremo, King Promise, and of course, Davido, Mayorkun’s mentor and collaborator, reuniting with him for a track that’s already stirring excitement. The album officially drops on June 13th on all digital streaming platforms (DSPs). Fans worldwide will finally get to experience the full body of work Mayorkun has spent the past year perfecting.
Fresh off the album’s release, Mayorkun is gearing up for a major African tour, with “Mayorkun & Friends – Ghana” set to be one of the marquee stops. While details of the Ghana edition are still under wraps, fans can expect a high-energy, community-driven showcase to celebrate the album with the people who helped inspire it.
“Still the Mayor” is a statement of intent. A reminder that Mayorkun remains one of Afrobeats’ most versatile and consistent hitmakers. And with Accra as the chosen city to unveil this chapter, it’s clear the Mayor is embracing his pan-African influence while staying rooted in the community that elevated him.
