Absa is proud to announce the upcoming solo exhibition of Gandor Collins, Absa L’Atelier 2022 Ambassador, taking place at Ghana’s vibrant Mix Design Hub.

Collins’ artistic practice seamlessly merges the past and the present, drawing inspiration from Ghana’s rich history to reflect on its contemporary and future narratives. His work explores themes of identity, heritage, and imagination, offering audiences a profound conversation between memory and modernity.

This showcase is part of Absa’s newly launched series of exhibitions highlighting the Absa L’Atelier Ambassadors—emerging voices in African contemporary art whose creativity reflects the diversity, depth, and brilliance of the continent.

As part of the prestigious Absa L’Atelier journey, each Ambassador is granted a fully funded solo exhibition—an exceptional opportunity to present their work professionally in leading galleries across Africa. Now in its 39th year, the Absa L’Atelier programme remains one of the continent’s longest-running and most respected platforms dedicated to nurturing visual arts talent.

“At the core of Absa L’Atelier is our belief that every artist’s story holds power,” said Dr. Paul Bayliss, Absa Senior Specialist Art Curator. “Gandor Collins’ work epitomises this principle, reimagining Ghana’s history while inspiring new dialogues about Africa’s future. We are proud to support him as he brings this vision to life.”

Reflecting on the exhibition, Gandor Collins noted: “This opportunity has enabled me to weave together Ghana’s historical narratives with the vibrancy of its present. My art is about preserving memory while envisioning what lies ahead. To share this body of work in my home country, through the support of Absa and the L’Atelier, is both an honour and a source of empowerment.”

Mahmoud Brimah, Gallery Manager at Mix Design Hub, added: “The Absa L’Atelier collaboration embodies a shared commitment to amplifying African creativity—empowering artists, sparking meaningful conversations, and bringing communities together. Hosting Gandor’s exhibition aligns perfectly with our mission to serve as a hub where art, culture, and innovation intersect.”

Through this series, Absa reaffirms its belief in the power of African art, and its commitment to being a catalyst for creativity, culture, and progress. To real life and untold stories. Because Absa sees your story, and it inspires us, your story matters.
